INSULATION TYPES
HYBRID INSULATION SYSTEMS
Whether you are building new, renovating or looking to increase your attic insulation, the primary goal is maximizing energy efficiency while working within budgetary constraints. Several factors should be considered, including the age and size of the building, current building codes, any existing insulation and the area’s climate. Sometimes achieving the ultimate efficiency solution requires thinking beyond a single product and a hybrid insulation system. M&M Insulation in the Minneapolis area can take all the factors into account and create a solution that meets your needs and fits your budget.
WHAT IS A HYBRID INSULATION SOLUTION?
A hybrid insulation solution takes two or more types of insulating material and uses them in a way that promotes the product’s best features while minimizing any shortfalls. This can be due to budget, time, construction, preference or any number of other reasons. Just like you would use a single product, we strive for the tightest air-seal possible, strongest thermal envelope and maximum moisture and pest resistance.
SPRAY FOAM INSULATION BASE FOR THE BEST SEAL
Spray foam insulation is a typical ‘first layer’ for hybrid insulation solutions. Achieving the highest R-values of spray foam insulation can be cost-prohibitive in some cases. But with a rating of R7 per inch, using it to create the air seal and thermal break and then topping it with fiberglass batts is both energy-efficient and cost-effective. It can also be used with blown-in insulation to achieve similar results.
Depending on the hybrid combination used, you can expect:
- Reduced Costs
- Complete air sealing
- Increased R-values
- Sound dampening
- Fire-resistance
- Moisture and pest resistance
- Resistance to mildew and fungus
