INSULATION TYPES

BLOWN ATTIC INSULATION

Also called blown-in fiberglass, a qualified insulation contractor can use net-in blow to provide a tight, well-insulated compartment. It is excellent for attic insulation, cathedral ceilings, floors and other closed cavities and irregular spaces. A proper install will prevent settling and maintain your R-value, which is limited by the size of the wall studs. Since it is blown in, it does not leave any gaps to allow heat loss or air infiltration, often making it a better choice than fiberglass batts. Proper installation requires a professional team. M&M Insulation are your Minnesota experts at blown attic insulation.

HOW BLOWN ATTIC INSULATION WORKS

It sometimes surprises homeowners that ‘net-in’ really means a netting is used. Loose-fill fiberglass insulation is blown behind a special net-like material, which holds the loose-fill in place. Like fiberglass batts, the loose fill is glass fibers and binding agents. Unlike fiberglass batts, net-in blow provides very high R-values. The net-in method is compacted at a high density, preventing settling and maintaining the R-value for a lifetime.
